About Us
United Women of the Horn is a coalition of Black diaspora women advocating for civic engagement, human rights, immigration reform, inclusivity, socio-economic equity, gender rights, and social change in both the United States of America and the Horn of Africa. Our board and team consist entirely of women of color, immigrants, and individuals who have personally experienced the impact of conflicts and instability in the Horn of Africa. These profound experiences have led to a refugee crisis, community and diaspora tensions, and various inequalities faced by our communities in the United States.
Our vision is to create a multicultural, safe, equitable, and egalitarian society wherein victims, immigrants, women, and all people live healthy, empowered, and free lives. Our mission is to bridge communities, mobilize for social change, and collectively advocate for rights, justice, peace, and equality.
The personal experiences of our founders have been the catalyst for our coming together. Each founder leads a separate organization that supports their specific ethnic communities, addressing unique challenges and fostering unity. Our collective initiatives aim to create positive change by bridging the gap between these regions and addressing pressing issues together.
We are a group of women from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, faiths, and experiences, unified by our commitment to being active forces for social change, justice, development, and human rights. Whether it is advancing women's rights, supporting besieged communities, or promoting democracy and inclusivity, our dedication knows no borders. United Women of the Horn is devoted to making a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve on both sides of the ocean.
Our initiatives include advocacy, legislative action, awareness campaigns, and direct support, all designed to empower individuals and communities. By addressing systemic barriers and promoting gender and racial equity, we strive to create a world where everyone can thrive.
Together, we strive for a brighter, more equitable future.
